Lee Mohs, 82, of Carmel, died Nov. 26. He was born Nov. 6, 1936, in Cold Spring, Minn., son of Leander and Hildegarde Iten Mohs.
Lee was a 1953 graduate of St. Boniface High School in Cold Spring. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was stationed on the USS Des Moines and sailed the world. Lee then continued his education at St. Cloud State College, graduating in 1962.
Lee had a 25-year career with the federal government in the Internal Revenue Service. He began as an agent in collection, continuing in audit and retired as chief of the criminal investigation division in Indiana in 1989. In his retirement years he worked in the State Dept. of Professional Licensing for the Attorney General’s Office.
In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his brother, Claude Mohs and sister, Rosie Koppy.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 57 years, Phyllis Gottwalt Mohs; son, Daniel (Cheryl) Mohs and daughter, Lynne (Jason) Isaacs; grandchildren, Joshua, Daniel and Emily Isaacs, Lindsey and Nicole Mohs; brother, Melvin (Suzy) Mohs; sisters, Donna Hansel and Pat (Andy) Rossmeisel.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 4 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow in Carmel Cemetery.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lee be given to Merciful HELP of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Catholic Church or PrimeLife Enrichment.
