Tom Lunsford vies for school board District 2 seat

Tom Lunsford said he has much to offer if he is elected Nov. 6 to the Westfield Washington Schools Board of Trustees.

Lunsford said he’s passionate about public schools and he could bring valuable experience to the board with his work history of being an attorney, CPA and chief financial officer.

“I want to help the current CFO (Brian Tomamichel), newly hired by the school district, and be a resource for him and help him bounce ideas off of me,” he said. “Other than that, I’m really passionate about public schools.”

Lunsford attend a small public school and shared an experience where a teacher encouraged him in high school.

“I had a teacher that touched me in high school and built my confidence up,” he said. “She told me she thought I’d be good at accounting told me to go to Indiana University.”

Lunsford took the advice and graduated from IU with three degrees. He lives in Westfield. His two children attend Westfield schools.

The District 2 incumbent, Mary SeRine, is not running for re-election. The top issues Lunsford would  address if elected are the budget, student achievement, growth and safety.
