Carmel resident Adriane Doherty will sign books and hold a story time at 11 a.m. Aug. 18 at Barnes & Noble, 14790 Greyhound Plaza, Carmel.
Doherty will read her newest book, “ABC Indiana,” by Rubber Ducky Press, during the store’s scheduled storytime and conduct an activity for the kids. The book is available at the Barnes & Noble store in Carmel and online at barnesandnoble.com.
Another book from Doherty, “Sweet Dreams Indiana,” is set for a November release.
Children are guided through “ABC Indiana” by a friendly duck hiding somewhere on each page.
“The repeated use of the ducky on each page helps kids and parents to read by stimulating cognitive engagement and creating associations,” Doherty said. “It also provides an added benefit of helping parents of children with reading disabilities and attention deficit disorders to connect to the content.”
Each page showcases a letter and Indiana flora and fauna, people, events, food and places.
According to a press release, children can experience the vibrant aspects of Indiana life through “ABC Indiana,” learning fun facts, while also increasing their vocabulary and learning about the state and its many attributes.
