Cookout to honor fallen officer

Hendricks Regional Health will be hosting a cookout in honor of Deputy Jacob Pickett, with proceeds benefiting his family. The Deputy Jacob (Jake) Pickett Benefit Cookout will be held on Thursday, June 21 from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Hendricks Regional Health Brownsburg Hospital, in the parking lot.

Pickett, a Boone County officer, was killed in the line of duty in March. Pickett was a Zionsville resident, husband and father of two, and a Brownsburg native who graduated from Brownsburg High School in 2002. He was the first Boone County Sheriff’s Office deputy to fall in the line of duty since 1935.

The cost for this event is five dollars per meal, which includes your choice of hamburger, brat or hot dog with toppings, a bag of chips choice of fruit, a gourmet cookie and bottled water.

This event is open to everyone and all proceeds will go to the Deputy Jacob Pickett Memorial Fund. Hendricks Regional Health will match 100 percent of the proceeds to the fund. Cash or cards are accepted, and donations are also welcome.
