Teen suspected of fatal Lebanon shooting

A 16-year-old suspect has been taken into custody by the Lebanon Police Dept. for alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Jamie Dover.

The Boone County Communications Center received a 911 call at 1:17 p.m. on June 4, reporting a shooting in the parking lot of J&J Muffler, located at 1404 West South Street in Lebanon.

When police arrived, a 17-year-old male was found deceased in the parking lot, outside of a vehicle. He was later identified as Dover.

Two other juveniles present when the shooting occurred. Both were taken into custody without incident. It was learned through the investigation that one of the juveniles witnessed to the shooting. The other, a 16-year-old, is considered a suspect.

Investigators are continuing to work to determine the events leading up to the shooting. The suspect is being held in a juvenile detention facility, with formal charges pending. Investigators are working with the Boone County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if charges will be filed.

“Due to the nature of juvenile involvement, we cannot release any more information at this time,” said LPD Sgt. Ben Phelps.

Notification has been made to the family of the deceased. The investigation is ongoing.
