Letter: Carey Tolan best for the job

0

Editor,

I am taking this opportunity to encourage the residents of Westfield to throw their support in the upcoming May Primary to Danielle Carey Tolan for Township Trustee. I have the unique perspective of having had social interactions with both of the candidates running for the office. Albeit, I have a much closer relationship with Danielle, given that we are both lifelong residents of Westfield who attended school together and enjoy an established, lengthy friendship.

My desire to request community-wide support for Mrs. Carey Tolan in this election relates to a few key factors that I believe to be very important with respect to this specific office.

The first of those factors is the word “township” and what that represents. Long before Westfield became incorporated as a city, it was a small town. The office of the Township Trustee still has that small town focus and is dedicated to assisting those residents who have the most severe needs. Danielle Carey Tolan is a fifth generation (Carey) resident of this now city, once a town. Her husband, much like me, is a lifelong resident of Westfield with a family who has been established in this community for several decades. I believe that Danielle’s history, and that of her family, here in Westfield provides her with a perspective that uniquely qualifies her to relate to those who are in need of the Townships’ assistance.

The next factor is Danielle’s proven record of excellence in this capacity. Over the past four years she has been exemplary in her duties to the Township. The old adage of, “If it isn’t broken, then don’t fix it,” applies perfectly to this situation. Westfield has a tradition of acknowledging our past and sticking to those things that have proven valuable. So, we have a good thing in Danielle and it’s not time to let it go.

The last factor is altruism. Danielle is the embodiment of an altruistic community leader. Knowing Danielle for as long as I have, I can attest that she is always thinking about others before thinking about herself. She is one of the most giving and caring individuals I’ve met throughout the years. She is both sympathetic and empathetic. She has every quality you would desire in the Township Trustee.

I believe Danielle to be the best candidate for this position. Look no further than her track record over the past four years as evidence for that statement.

Respectfully,

Bobby Moran
