CarmelFest Has Talent – Registration is open for CarmelFest Has Talent, the annual vocal competition that takes place at CarmelFest in July. This year, the competition is open to vocalists and other types of performers. The three categories are: 15 and younger, 16 and older and solo instrumentalist and ensembles. CCHS Spring Luncheon – A historic fashion show featuring outfits from various time periods will highlight the Carmel Clay Historical Society’s annual luncheon, set for 1 to 3 p.m. April 15 at Woodland Terrace, 689 Pro-Med Lane in Carmel. The event will also include a light lunch and presentation of the Heritage Award to Clay Township Trustee Doug Callahan. It is open to the public. Forest Dale mulch sale – The Forest Dale PTO is selling a variety of mulches from Musselman Farms. Delivery is free to homes in Carmel, Fishers, Westfield and Noblesville. Candidate forum – The Carmel Clay Republican Club is presenting its 2018 Republican Candidate forum at 5:30 p.m. April 19 at City Hall, 1 Civic Square. Student a semi-finalist – Sophia Tragesser from Carmel High School has been honored as a semi-finalist and honorable mention winner in the 49th annual national Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship Competition. State fair registration open – Registration is now open for all competitions for the 2018 Indiana State Fair. Suicide prevention training – Chaucie’s Place, 4607 E. 106th St., Carmel, will host QPR training from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 14. QPR stands for Question.Persuade.Refer. The method was developed to detect and respond to anyone exhibiting suicide warning signs. QPR is an evidence-based prevention program backed by 30 years of research. Cost is $25. The Great War exhibit – The Carmel Clay Historical Society will host The Great War: From Ration Lines to the Front Lines, one of the Indiana Historical traveling exhibits, from April 14-May 13. The exhibit showcases Indiana’s contributions to the war effort and the war’s long-lasting effects, and will be on display at the Monon Depot Museum, 211 1st St. SW.
Local author fair – The Carmel Clay Public Library will host a local author fair from 1 to 4 p.m. April 14 in the Program Room. Drop in anytime to meet writers in our community and explore local talent. A range of both fiction and nonfiction books will be available to purchase for both children and adults.
Screenagers movie – Midwest Academy, 1420 Chase Ct., will host a showing of the film: Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age from 6 to 8 p.m. April 18. Learn about the digital age our teenagers are living in. A panel discussion will follow the film.

Restored fundraiser – Donatello’s Italian Restaurant will host a fundraiser for Restored, Inc., an Indianapolis-based nonprofit that addresses human sex trafficking throughout the state. Golden Hoosier nominations – Nominations are being accepted for the 2018 Golden Hoosier Awards.
