Local residents Donny and Kas Miller noticed that there weren’t any ice cream options on the west side of town, so they created their own. Fundae’s is now open on Whitestown Parkway after a ribbon cutting March 16.
The process of opening the shop began almost a year ago.
“It’s been a labor of love since then,” Kas said.
Twenty high school students work part-time at the shop. The Millers plan to hire more assistance during the day. Every day, 32 flavors are available. Options frequently rotate among more than a hundred possibilities.
“We’ll always have the popular ones, but we’ll be changing it up all the time,” Kas said.
There are options for many dietary restrictions, including dairy-free, soy-free and dye-free.
The couple chose the name from the expression “Sunday, fun day.” The shop opens at noon during the week and 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Doors close at 9 p.m. except Friday and Saturday, when they close at 10 p.m.
