Share the Love fundraiser to benefit Dotted Line Divas extreme couponing nonprofit

Coupons save money, and one group of women is clipping savings to support community members in need.

Dotted Line Divas uses extreme couponing to purchase personal care and hygiene items at a significant discount to give to families in need.

The faith-based nonprofit is holding its third annual Share the Love fundraiser to support its mission. The event will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 3 at Ritz Charles in Carmel.

The event will include stories from Dotted Line Divas beneficiaries and volunteers and an overview of the organization’s goals. Guests can enjoy a three-course dinner, drinks, live entertainment and a silent auction.

“Our mission and why we exist is because everyday families go without these items because the expense is too great and there is an inability to purchase or receive these products through various assistance services,” said Christina Huffines, Dotted Line Divas founder. “We seek to bridge that gap.”

Huffines, a Carmel resident, began the nonprofit after using couponing to provide the basic needs for her own family, according to Dotted Line Divas board vice president Tanorria Askew of Carmel.

“Her own personal experience as a single mother who has struggled helps her to be able to connect and identify with the families we serve,” Askew said.

Dotted Line Divas also teaches the art of strategic couponing so others can learn to save money and give back to their communities.

“We have a Personal Care Pantry open once a month to serve families in need, and there is even an opportunity for people to shop these products in return for a suggested donation. Dotted Line Divas runs on donations and as little as $5 can provide for a family for a month’” Askew said. “Currently, an average of 50 families are served each month, and we hope to be able to serve even more through our fundraiser and the community support.”

At last year’s fundraiser, the nonprofit raised approximately $10,000. It wants to top that figure this year, Askew said.
