Hollywood screenwriter-turned-novelist Nina Sadowsky will make her Carmel debut at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 11 as part of the Carmel Clay Public Library Foundation’s Visiting Author Series.

“I am so excited she is coming to visit us,” said Liz Hamilton, CCPL Foundation director. “This is the first time for her to come to our library, and she is a big deal.”

Sadowksy wrote the screenplay for “The Wedding Planner,” which stars Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey. She was also president of actress Meg Ryan’s Prufrock Pictures.

“She has done a lot in the movie industry but then decided she really wanted to write novels,” Hamilton said.

Sadowsky’s first novel, “Just Fall,” was released in March 2016.

“We’ve had it here at the library since last summer,” Hamilton said. “I always like to check on the circulation numbers when I receive a phone call about an author visiting. Her book is circulating really well for the short amount of time we’ve had it. It’s a little bit of a mystery/thriller-type book. It definitely keeps your attention, and you have to keep reading.”

Sadowksy’s new novel, “The Burial Society,” was released Jan. 30.

“I haven’t read this one yet because it’s brand new, but it sounds just as compelling,” Hamilton said. “I think it’s going to be one of those books that once you start reading you have to just keep reading it. That’s sort of her writing style. I’m very excited to purchase and get copies of it.”

Books will be available for purchase and signing by Sadowsky. Registration is requested. To attend, call 317-814-3905 or email [email protected].
