The Carmel Police Dept. is participating in No Shave November by raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. About a third of the department is letting their facial hair grow to reach a goal of $5,000 by the end of November. CPD had collected $2,005 as of Nov. 9.

CPD is teaming up with Integrity Automotive and Main Street Barber Shop, which are corporate sponsors. Donations can be dropped off at CPD headquarters or those two businesses.

Main Street Barber Shop will shave the officers from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. Owner Jason Peek said they’ll also be trimming up the officers during the month.

“We will be keeping these heroes slightly cleaned up so we don’t scare the community too much,” he said.

CPD Lt. Joe Bickel said it’s a lot of fun and for a good cause.

“Some of the officers already have a pretty good beard started,” he said.
