Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre production of “Annie” became the most successful season opening production in the theatre’s 103-year history. It surpassed all opening show box office records to take the top spot.
“Thanks to everyone who saw ‘Annie’ and spread the word about it throughout the community,” Civic Theatre Chairman of the Board of Directors Donald E. Knebel said in a release. “Our cast and crew thrive on full houses and you rewarded them immensely.”
“Annie” featured national tour sets that were assembled by the Civic’s professional technical staff.
Anne Nicole Beck provided the direction and choreography for the show, which concluded its run Oct. 28.
“Credit for the success of ‘Annie’ lies with the artistic team that brought it to life, the cast who gave unselfishly of themselves for weeks of rehearsal and performance as well as the crew, orchestra and Civic staff who supported them all,” Civic Executive Artistic Director Michael J. Lasley said. “You can’t always guess what title will capture the attention of the public but you must be prepared to make the most of it when it happens. That preparation and professionalism is what our success is built on.”
Civic will present “Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” Dec. 15 to Jan 7, 2018 at the Tarkington in Carmel.
