Hamilton County Sheriff’s Dept. deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash at approximately 12:24 p.m. Sept. 10 on Horton Road south of 196th Street in Westfield.
According to a press release sent to Current, the vehicle, a 2015 Chevrolet Impala, was traveling southbound when it left the west side of the roadway for an unknown reason and collided with a tree. The car was driven by Derik Reed, 42, of Westfield. Reed was the only occupant in the vehicle and was trapped inside the vehicle until the fire department extricated him. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The crash is currently under review by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Team. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the agency at 317-773-1282.
