The Carmel Cooperative Preschool will host the Carmel Co-op Pop-up Shop Aug. 27 in hopes of using proceeds to upgrade its playground into an engaging outdoor classroom for science, theatre, engineering and art activities.
Carmel Cooperative Preschool is the only cooperative preschool in Carmel and one of 12 in Indianapolis. The preschool serves families in Carmel, Westfield, Zionsville, Noblesville, Fishers and Indianapolis. The preschool was founded in 2014 by Mary Rose Simons and Natasha Shallon, who believed that Carmel would benefit from having a cooperative preschool in the community.
Admission is free and the event will include shopping, a silent auction and entertainment.
“The best part is you will support a bunch of great kids who love to learn. The cooperative preschool model is unique in that families work together to provide a play-based education that sets a solid foundation for the rest of each kid’s academic life,”said Mary Kathyrne Cohoat, outdoor committee and event planning committee member for the Carmel Cooperative Preschool.
Jazzy O’Brien, co-president of Carmel Cooperative Preschool, said the event helps to put a spotlight on how kids, parents and teachers learn and grow together. Silly Hearts Yoga and Mr. Daniel are a part of the school’s curriculum and will host activities during the event along with the preschool teachers.
Items for sale include gently-used Tula babies carriers, gently used clothing for babies, toddlers, and kids, a water table, roller blades, games, a rocking chair, a Burley bike trailer, cloth diapers and more.
Vendors include Babywearing International, Barefoot Books, Do Good Indy, Fashion Cafe Indy, Fox Kit Diapers, Mike’s Treasure Trove and Silly Hearts Yoga for Kids.
