Local book blog Saints and Sinners will host an author fair called “Indies in Indy” from noon to 4 p.m. July 29 at the Renaissance Indianapolis North Hotel, 11925 N Meridian St. The goal is to bring together authors and readers in a casual setting.

“We wanted to take the people that we work with, specifically Indiana-based authors, and try to get a signing here where readers can come meet these authors that they might not know actually live here in Indiana,” said Lauren Davis, founder and co-blogger. “Over a third of the authors we will have at the event will be from Indiana, and several of them are USA Today and New York Times Bestsellers.”

More than 80 authors will be present to sign books and answer questions.

“They can come in and network with authors. It also provides up-and-coming authors (an opportunity) to talk with published authors about how they got into the business,” Davis said. “A lot of authors are using this as a basis to meet readers in the area they haven’t been able to come meet.”

The event is partnered with a charity called Honor the Sacrifice. Almost all proceeds from the event will help veterans and active military members.

Davis started Saints and Sinners in 2014 as a way to share her love of books with others.

“I’ve always been an avid reader, and books have always been an escape from boredom. In 2014, I decided to take my love of books and start doing book reviews,” Davis said. “We provide mostly free services to these authors who want to get their book out there to reach the most people they can without having to put hours and hours of legwork in. We’re almost a one-stop shop.”
