Lawrence Police Investigating May 22 bank robbery

Lawrence Police detectives are investigating a bank robbery that occurred on the afternoon of May 22 and are asking the public for assistance in identifying the suspect.

Just before noon, Lawrence Police responded to the Old National Bank branch at 8930 E. 56th St., Lawrence, to investigate a robbery. Witnesses stated the suspect approached the counter holding a piece of paper and demanded money, telling employees he had a gun. However, no weapon was displayed.

After receiving cash, the suspect walked away from the area, but police say he was not seen entering a vehicle and witnesses did not see in what direction he fled.

The suspect is described as a male, 5-foot-8 to 6-foot tall, thin, with no facial hair. The suspect was wearing a black, long-sleeved top and a wig.
