David Letterman’s mother, Dorothy Mengering of Carmel, dies at 95

image1Carmel resident Dorothy Mengering, the mother of former late-night talk show host David Letterman, died April 11 at age 95.

Mengering entered the public eye by making frequent appearances on “Late Night with David Letterman,” including as a correspondent for the 1994 winter Olympic games in Lillehammer, Norway. In 1996 she published a cookbook, “Home Cookin’ with Dave’s Mom.”
