Mayor’s Night In – Mayor Tim Haak and the Town of Zionsville staff and department heads want to hear from you. Mayor’s Night In will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. April 26 at Zionsville Town Hall. This is a chance to hear about the current happenings in Zionsville, to ask questions and to connect with Town officials. Following a brief presentation, there will be a Q&A session. All residents, neighborhood associations and businesses are invited to attend.

Holy week services – Salem United Methodist Church, 6701 S 775 E, will hold a Maundy Thursday sunset service at 7 p.m. April 13. A traditional sunrise service will be held at 7:30 a.m. April 16 followed by a breakfast. Alateen group forming – Alateen is a program for young people whose lives have been affected by a family member or friend’s drinking or drug use. Alateen is part of Al-Anon, a recovery program for adults whose lives have been similarly affected. Zionsville is getting its very first Alateen meeting! The first meeting will take place on at 7:30 p.m. on April 12 at Zionsville Christian Church, 120 N. 9th St. Zionsville. Trained and background checked adult Al-Anon members are meeting supervisors. Zionsville Women in Network – Are you interested in meeting other businesswomen to discuss growing your business or listen to speakers on a variety of topics? Join the ladies of ZWIN on the second Thursday of each month. The next meeting is from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 13 at Zionsville United Methodist Church. Maundy Thursday service – Salem United Methodist Church will hold will hold their annual Maundy Thursday Service at 7 p.m. April 13. Maundy Thursday is the Thursday before Easter and commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles.

Youth Worker Café – The Indiana Youth Institute and its community partners will host a free Youth Worker Café event from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. April 18 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 910 Fordice Rd. in Lebanon. Angi Johnson with ASPIRE Indiana, Lynette Clark with Integrative Wellness, LLC and Michelle Bergman with Cummins Behavioral Health will speak about the resources available in Boone County to help young people and families dealing with mental health issues. The seminar and light breakfast are free, but reservations are required at iyi.org/ywc.

Student speaks at conference – Zoe Guckien was selected to present a research project titled Bioinformatics Analyses of the Fungal MIS Complex at The University of Alabama’s Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference held March 30. The conference allowed students to gain experience presenting, become eligible for cash prizes, and form relationships with faculty mentors and fellow conference presenters.

Teen pageant – Applications are being accepted for the title of Miss Teen Indiana International 2017, an official preliminary to the Miss Teen International Pageant to be held this summer in Charleston, W.V. The young woman selected as Miss Teen Indiana International 2017 will serve as an ambassador for the state and receive an official crown and sash. Safe Families golf outing – Safe Families for Children is celebrating its 12th annual golf outing at 11 a.m. on May 15 at The Bridgewater Club in Carmel. Cost is $1,000 for a foursome and includes lunch, golf, contests, prizes, and awards banquet. Camp scholarship – a scholarship is available for a 5th or 6th grader who wants to attend the 2017 Indiana Conservation Officer Organization Karl E. Kelley Memorial Youth Camp in June. Setting the Stage for Kids – Join The Children’s Policy and Law Initiative of Indiana from 5 to 9 p.m. on April 15 for their first ever signature event Setting the Stage for Kids! Hoosier Women Artists contest – Entries are now being accepted for the annual Hoosier Women Artists contest. The contest celebrates a wide variety of visual arts including drawing, painting, and photography. Winners of the contest will have their artwork displayed in the Lt. Governor’s and Treasurer’s offices at the Statehouse for one year. Submissions may be made by visiting in.gov and typing Women Artists in the search box through April 19.

Theater Thursdays – Boone County Senior Services, Inc. brings back Theater Thursdays on the third Thursday of each month with a special morning movie at the Lebanon 7 Theater, 1600 N. Library Programs – Safe-sitter class, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.April 22. A course designed to teach babysitters how to be safe and nurturing caregivers, and how to handle children’s emergencies. Please bring a sack lunch. For grades 6-8. Cost is $60. Register at zionsvillelibrary.org.

Electronics recycling – An electronics recycling drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 22 at University High School, 2825 W. 116th St. Phones, computers, printers, tablets, cables, and more are welcome. Tube TV’s with a CRT screen have an additional $10 charge.

New scholarship program – Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of Indiana Members Credit Union, announces the new Robert E. Martin Collegiate Scholarship Program, available to college students that are members of Indiana Members Credit Union. Up to 25, $1,000 scholarships will be offered. Applications will be accepted through April 30. Application and instructions can be found online at imf4kids.org.

Lunch and Learn On the Road – Boone County Senior Services announces the 2017 lineup for Lunch and Learn On the Road. Lunch and Learn On the Road is for people age 60 and over who would like to travel with us by motor coach to see different parts of our state and learn something new, plus enjoy a special meal. Meeting dates – The Boone County Solid Waste Management District Board meeting dates for 2017 have been announced. All meetings begin at 8:30 a.m. and are held at the County Annex Building, 116 W. Washington St., Room 105, Lebanon. The meeting dates are May 18, July 20, Sept. 21 and Nov. 16.

ZCHS class reunion – The Zionsville Community High School Alumni Association announces the fifth annual all-class reunion, to be held from 7 to 11 p.m. on July 29 in the Lion’s Club Park. For more information or to get involved, visit ZionsvilleAlumni.org.
