Current in Carmel is featuring neighborhoods throughout Carmel. If you’d like readers to learn more about where you live, e-mail Adam at [email protected].

This week I talked to David Bowers, president of Inglenook’s Home Owners Assocation.

Neighborhood: Inglenook of Carmel Pocket Neighborhood

Location: 5 acres off of 99th Street and Maple Drive

Size: Inglenook of Carmel is made up of 27 cottage-style homes designed by renowned architect Ross Chapin.

Makeup of residents: Inglenook of Carmel is home to all ages and all people – small families, big families, young, old, married and single.  The people who come to call Inglenook home all have one thing in common – a desire for an intimate community.

What makes it unique: Our “pocket neighborhood” is made up of 27 unique “cottages.” They are based on award-winning original designs by renowned architect Ross Chapin. His homes have been featured in 25 books and in multiple publications. Not only is each cottage unique by design, size and color, but the interior design style is very reflective of the personalities of the home owners. We also share common grassy areas for get-togethers, kids play, dog play and community parties.

Top issues: Property value protection is one of the most talked about concerns, so to protect the uniqueness and beauty of our community, our HOA has created an Architectural Review Board and Landscape Committee.

Traffic issues: Traffic seems to be one of the main issues in our community. This is caused by a change in traffic direction due to the building of The Season’s apartment complex. We were originally told that Maple Drive would not be a “through street” but it was changed by the City of Carmel to a high traffic/high speed through street.

Fun events: We have multiple community “events” throughout the year such as our annual community meeting and barbecue and a progressive dinner or chili cook-off or wine tasting.

How to get involved: Contact Larry Ladig, co-President, Inglenook HOA BOD at 317-590-3024. We welcome all homeowner involvement.
