The O’Connor House in Carmel will host its annual fundraising event, Basketball Madness, March 10 at Ritz Charles.

The O’Connor House is a not-for-profit organization with a mission of providing a Christian home to help single, pregnant, homeless women improve life for themselves and their children.

“They can live at the house for up to 18 months. What we hope to do is really help them improve their lives for the long haul,” O’Connor House Development Assistant Kristi Lammers said. “They can stay during and after their pregnancy. We focus on helping them to heal and helping them be prepared to get out of poverty and live independently.”

The casual event coincides with March Madness. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite team’s jerseys.

“We call it our Celebration of Life Basketball Madness event,” O’Connor House Development Director Nancy Imhoff said. “The really great thing about it is that it is a fun casual event. We actually bring in almost a full-size basketball court.”

The event will offer games, a silent auction and food but also some insight into what the O’Connor House does.

“We have a short program where we’re able to show a video telling about who we are and share some great stories of the women who have been through the O’Connor House,” Imhoff said. “It’s really a great way for someone to get connected and see firsthand what we’re about.”

The cost to attend is $75 with sponsorship tables available. To attend, visit theoconnorhouse.org.
