The Clay Middle School speech team recently received second place at the Middle School Speech Meet at Brebeuf Jesuit High School. They finished two points behind St. Paul Catholic School from Valparaiso. More than 400 students from 23 schools participated in 12 events at the competition. Individual award winners from Clay Middle School include Katelyn Wang, first place dramatic interpretation; Sarah Ilmudeen and Daniel Schrader-Dobris, first place prose interpretation; Jacob Bailey, first place radio; Rebekah Allison, second place original oratory; Mitchell Finley, second place discussion; Bradley Snyder, third place extemporaneous speaking; Matthew Daly, fourth place extemporaneous speaking; Kalike Raje, fourth place impromptu speaking; Kimmi Vasil, fourth place declamation; and Kate Munson, fifth place impromptu speaking.
