Commentary by Amy Pauszek
I have seen several productions of “The Sound of Music,” but Broadway Indy has done it again by bringing first-rate touring Broadway shows for the entire family to enjoy. What a treat it was for me to meet and chat with Indy native Ben Davis, who plays Captain George von Trapp, and Charlotte Maltby, who plays Maria, the stars of “The Sound of Music.”
Both shined on stage along with the talented Broadway cast and crew, sensational sets, and yes, matching outfits made from curtains. I also had a blast catching up with family friend Darren Matthias (Franz, The Butler) who said it’s always special to return home to Indianapolis to perform on stage for family and friends. The audience agreed because the show received a well-deserved standing ovation, and the City of Indianapolis was filled with the “sound of music.” If you missed this spectacular production, grab your family and go see Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” coming to Old National Centre Feb. 7-12, and don’t miss “Jersey Boys” Feb. 28-March 5 at Clowes Memorial Hall. Where’s Amy can’t wait to see you there and take you behind the scenes of Broadway. For more, visit indianapolis.broadway.com.
