Jean Helen Keith, 85, Noblesville, died Jan. 9 at Harbour Manor Care Center in Noblesville. She was born Aug. 11, 1931, to Milford Lee and Regina (Koebel) Sater in St. Louis, Mo.

Jean was a graduate of Great Neck High School in Long Island, N.Y. and received her nursing degree from Adelphi University and her master’s degree from St. John’s University. She stayed home while her children were young and then began her nursing career, which lasted from 1953 to 2005. Her first nursing position was with Nassau Hospital in Long Island. Following, she was the assistant director of nursing for Huntington Hospital in Long Island before moving to Smithtown Hospital in Smithtown, Long Island. She then took a nursing position at St. John’s Hospital in Anderson, Ind., before becoming the director of nursing for an Indianapolis nursing home. Jean spent 12 years as a surveyor for the Indiana Board of Health inspecting nursing homes. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Noblesville, the Daughters of the American Revolution – Horseshoe Prairie Chapter, Mended Hearts and the SVEA Lodge 253 VASA Order of America. She enjoyed buying and selling antiques, as well as tracking family through genealogy.

She is survived by her husband, John Keith, children Brian Keith, Sheryl (Andre) Penu and Karen (Christopher) Le Plastrier, brothers Robert Sater and Daniel Sater, grandchildren Keith, John, Jesse and Mark Penu, Faith Brewer, Jessica, Gregory Oliver and Kathryn Flor, Haley Hast and Hannah and Hollyn Keith and great-grandchildren Catherine Hast and one more coming soon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Sater.
