13 year old finds metal in Halloween candy believed to be from a home in southern Hamilton County

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office has  received information that a 13-year-old female discovered a piece of metal inside a 3 Musketeers “mini” candy bar she received while trick-or-treating Halloween night. The metal was found when the girl bit into the candy bar.

She was seen by medical personnel and is being treated for any possible injuries she might have sustained as a result of the metal inside the candy.

The girl’s parents contacted the Sheriff’s Office and turned over the metal piece for detectives to investigate the incident. Upon further inspection, the piece of metal was determined to be part a small type of blade.

The victim trick-or-treated in the Orchard Park neighborhood in the area of 106th Street and Westfield Boulevard near Home Place in southern Hamilton County.

Police said while this appears to be an isolated incident and no other similar reports have been made, Sheriff Bowen encourages parents in all areas to make sure to examine all treats before allowing children to eat them. Checking Halloween candy before eating is always encouraged.

Anyone having information or finding any suspicious looking candy is asked to contact the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office at 317-773-1282.
