Obituary: Ma Lourdes “LuLu” Baltazar

Ma Lourdes “LuLu” Baltazar, 67, McCordsville, died Oct. 6 at her home. She was born Feb. 11, 1949 to Juanito and Isabel (Banawa) Salazar in Lemery, Batangas, Philippines.

For 10 years, LuLu worked as a teacher at Lourdes Catholic School in Quezon City, Philippines, until her health forced her to retire in 1978. She came to the United States in 2013 with her husband, Jose. LuLu was an Oblate of the Monastery of Configuration in the Philippines and later a member of Holy Spirit Parish at Geist Catholic Church. She was a woman of faith and prayer and enjoyed her simple way of life. LuLu enjoyed cross-stitch, traveling and nature, where she found peace. She was happiest when she was with her family, especially her grandchildren.

LuLu is survived by her children, Kokoy (Rosemarie) Baltazar, Isabel (Kevin) Blackford and Suter (Miña) Baltazar, grandchildren L.J. Baltazar, Nicole Baltazar, Kakay Baltazar, Angelo Baltazar, Kane Blackford, Mika Blackford, Andrei Baltazar and Renee Baltazar, sistersTessie Castillo and Ging Jones and brother Carlos Salazar, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Jose S. Baltazar, who died in 2013, and brother Joe Salazar.
