Zionsville Education Foundation to hold Barn Bash fundraiser

Pull out your cowboy boots and spurs. This fall the Zionsville Educational Foundation is turning its fall fundraising event into a Barn Bash.

ZEF Executive Director Tracy Phillips said the idea evolved after recognizing that stakeholders wanted a casual event mixed with the annual fall frolic.

“Sometimes we need to reinvent things,” she said.

Tickets to the Barn Bash are $100 per person. A $20 pass purchased at the door allows for unlimited games and a ticket for the door prize. Games include corn hole and rides on a mechanical bull.

“That is really changing it up a little bit,” Phillips said. “Dress accordingly.”

“We are focusing all of our efforts on a fall fundraiser,” said Phillips versus another event in the spring so that ZEF fundraising won’t interfere with events at the other schools. “We don’t want to compete when we have the same goals.”

At the end of the evening will be a surprise that Phillips won’t reveal but said it will be “a fundraiser within a fundraiser.”

After last year’s 20th anniversary, ZEF conducted a survey of all stakeholders to determine what they would like to see for future fundraisers.

“A healthy majority said stay in Zionsville,” Phillips said. The Barn Bash will be held in the Indianapolis Executive Airport. With very few options for the 300 to 350 people regularly attending ZEF fundraisers, “that’s the only location (in Zionsville) that can hold that many people indoors,” Phillips said.

Funds support ZEF grants given to Zionsville schools twice annually. ZEF received 18 grant applications this fall requesting a total of $45,000. As many as possible will be fulfilled by the $35,000 budget.
