The City of Carmel has announced its next round of road construction closures. The intersections at Carey Road and 136th Street and Hawthorne Drive will be closed beginning Sept. 19 for approximately 45 days for crews to construct roundabouts.
The current T-intersection at Carey Road and 136th Street will be reconstructed into a single-lane roundabout and include full-depth pavement, curbs, gutters, an enclosed storm water system and a shared-use path with new curb ramps. Traffic will be detoured along 146th Street and Gray Road during the closure.
Carey Road and Hawthorne Drive will also be reconstructed as a single-lane roundabout with full-depth pavement, curbs, gutters, new storm drainage features, reconstruction of existing sidewalks and ADA-compliant curb ramps. The detour route is tentatively planned as 146th Street and Keystone Avenue.
