Brooks back on ballot – Rep. Susan W. Brooks has been returned to the ballot and will continue her reelection bid. Republican precinct committeemen voted to return Brooks to the ballot as the Republican Congressional nominee for the Fifth District.

Indiana Design Center Preview Night –The Indiana Design Center in Carmel is hosting a Fall Design Preview Night 5:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 25. History of the Dad’s Club – The Carmel Clay Historical Society presents The History of the Carmel Dad’s Club at 7 p.m. Aug. 30 at the library. Dan Chapman will talk about the origins of the club and the people who have worked to make it great over the years.

Drive Sober campaign – The 2016 Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign has begun and will run through Sept. 5. Local law enforcement will work overtime to conduct sobriety patrols and checkpoints around the clock. Hamilton County joins thousands of law enforcement agencies across the country in this campaign.
Native tree sale – The Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District is holding its annual native tree sale. Trees are $25 and will be approximately 3- to 5-feet tall at delivery. Marathon registration open – Registration is now open for the seventh annual Carmel Marathon, April 22, 2017. Early bird registration fees are available for full marathon, half marathon, 8K run and 5K run. This is the second-largest marathon in the state. Coding documentary – Diversity is needed in the IT community. A new documentary, CODE: Debugging the Gender Gap, explores this issue and shows how to close the gap. The film will be screened at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at UA Galaxy Stadium 14. The event will feature a speaker following the film and a fundraiser for the Noble Crossing Elementary Girls’ Coding Club. Cinch Cycling at Rollfast – Pro cyclist Tom Danielson will attend the Rollfast Gran Fondo in Carmel Sept. 18. Danielson has started a new business called Cinch Cycling and focuses on training camps, clinics and coaching. Danielson will bring the Cinch Cycling experience to Carmel. Road closure – Rolling Springs Drive will remain closed until approximately Aug. 29 due to the culvert replacement. Detour for this project consists of 116th Street and East Carmel Drive and the utilization of Keystone Parkway.
