A new fitness center, set to open in Whitestown in early September, plans to offer free classes as a positive way to engage the community.

Xcel Fit Club hopes its goal of Fit Family Fun will resonate with residents.

“We understand that the concept of fitness and healthy living can sometimes be intimidating or off-putting, so that is the goal of our approach to fitness, our Fit Family Fun,” said General Manager and Fitness Director Jared Bailey. “Our other initiatives are to simply instill the necessity of preventative health so that people can be more productive and efficient in their everyday lives.”

The club’s free, and outdoor yoga and Pilates fitness classes will start Aug. 27 at the Whitestown Farmers Market and will continue every Saturday until it starts to get cold, Bailey said.

Bailey was introduced to the health industry in 2003 as a combat medic in the Army National Guard.

“When my unit came back from tour, I decided I wanted to work in preventative health rather than emergency-medical situations,” he said. “I have managed health clubs since 2011 and would not ever want to do anything else.”

Xcel Fit Club, 6848 Whitestown Pkwy., will be a 24-hour facility offering unlimited classes, also available 24/7 through its Fitness on Demand program.

“Most people do not stay consistent with a fitness program, and many times it is their health that becomes compromised,” Bailey said. “We would like to help the Zionsville/Whitestown community navigate those issues.”
