Movies in the Park has become a staple for Westfield families with its family-friendly movies, but as the event begins its third year, it has implemented something new for adults only.

The Westfield Parks and Recreation Dept. will be hosting its first themed movie night for parents and adults to enjoy a “date night” out under the stars. The PG-13 romantic comedy, Hitch, will play at dusk.

Brittany Goger, community outreach manager, said this is the first year the department has dedicated a movie night for adults only.

“This will give parents and other adults a chance to enjoy a get-away for free,” she said. “The food trucks will provide great food such as beef briskets sliders, pulled pork, shrimp tacos and more. We are really looking forward to having a great time and getting everyone together.”

The event will begin at 8 p.m. at Asa Bales Park, 205 W. Hoover St. Cosmic Chrome Café provided food trucks, and Black Hawk Winery will sell wine by the glass or the bottle. Parking is available at Westfield High School, 18250 N. Union St.

“People can set up at 8 p.m. and then get their food and drinks until we begin the movie around sunset,” Goger said. “Make sure to bring bug spray and lawn chairs or blankets. Food and drinks will be provided by local venders.”

Those who attend the event do not have to be 21 but will be carded to buy any alcoholic beverage.

Other Movies in the Park include Tomorrowland on July 29, Jurassic World on Aug. 12 and Inside Out on Aug. 19.

The event was made possible with partnership of CitySpring Church. For rescheduling updates due to weather, and to learn more on upcoming events, visit www.enjoywestfieldevents.com.
