Project Good: Scout builds shed for Boys & Girls Club

0

An Eagle Project is an opportunity for a Boy Scout to demonstrate leadership while performing a project for the benefit of his community. Thomas Burgess of Troop 804, chartered by American Legion Post 79 of Zionsville, decided to build a storage shed for the Boys and Girls Club of Zionsville West for his project. The Boys and Girls Club had no room on site to store the athletic equipment used by the kids, so it was using a location far away.

To accomplish the project, Thomas raised more than $4,000 for the storage shed, tools and building supplies through two grants from Boone REMC and United Way Youth as Resources and a letter-writing campaign to family and friends. During the building phase, Thomas was joined by more than 30 volunteers from his Troop 804, University High School’s lacrosse team, family and friends who collectively worked more than 228 man hours.
