Obituary: Fern H. Thoman


Fern H. Thoman, 88, Delray Beach, Fla., died May 25 at Delray Medical Center. She was born Oct. 23, 1927 to Roy Glen and Marie (Patzer) Helm in Terraville, S.D.

Thoman was employed by Indiana Bell Telephone Company for 30 years and retired in 1977. She then worked for Bolden’s Cleaners in Noblesville for another 30 years, retiring in 2008 at the age of 80. Thoman was a member of Noblesville First United Methodist Church and Indiana Bell Pioneers.

She is survived by two sons, Greg Thoman of Kokomo and Jeff (Amy) Thoman of Delray Beach, Fla., brother Herb Helm of Kokomo, grandchildren Chris Thoman and Cory Thoman of Austin, Texas, April Thoman of Delray Beach, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Thoman was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Thoman, and brothers Charles Helm, John Helm and James Helm.
