High School Waterpark Palooza ● As homework and finals make way for the freedom of summer, teens are itching for some fun in the pool. Join the community, in partnership with the Carmel Mayor’s Youth Council, for a high school only night of music, food trucks, competitions and fun! Prairie Tykes: Chickens in Charge ● Children ages 2-5 will love making friends with the Conner Prairie chickens and then making a craft resembling their new feathered friends. The event will conclude by turning the music up and doing the chicken dance! This class is a series of events hosted by Prairie Tykes, a program for kids to make new friends and learn more about the world around them. Westfield Playhouse Presents: The Nerd ● Set in the city of Terre Haute, this comedy is about the relationship between selflessness and selfishness during a dinner party that doesn’t quite go as planned. Saxony Lake & Beach Opening Day ● The opening of Saxony Lake & Beach signals that summer is on its way! Enjoy everything the beach has to offer, including the 350 feet sandy beach, a roped off swimming area (with on-duty lifeguards), and activities offered by vendors. These activities include kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and beach yoga. Saxony Market ● Enjoy fresh produce this summer at the recently-opened Saxony Market. Local farmers, bakers and artisans will put forward an elaborate array of items available for purchase, including produce, baked goods, handcrafted items and more. Acoustic music or demonstrations will provide entertainment every week. Drawn to the District ● The Carmel Arts and Design District welcomes plein air artists to paint the district on a few select days in May, including May 28-29. Join other artists and enjoy creating art as often as you choose, whether it is one hour, one day or every weekend! All types of artists, all ages, all levels including 3D are welcome to join in the fun. Art classes for adults and children will also be offered. Hoosiers in History Told in Miniature ● In celebration of Indiana’s Bicentennial, the Museum of Miniature Houses has been exhibiting a special showing from their collection that related to Hoosier history. Items include small replicas of Levi Coffin’s Underground Railroad house, Major Taylor’s bicycle, and the car that won the first Indy 500. Drawing Class (Session 2) ● Learn to improve your artistic skills in this art class for all skill levels. Nickel Plate Studio Artists Bruce Neckar and John Reynolds will provide subject matter and provide tips. Nickel Plate Arts will be responsible for providing graphite sticks, newsprint and drawing boards, although participants may bring their own materials. Must be 15 or older.
