The NoblesvilleWORKS initiative is a campaign that will highlight a monthly “soft skill.” The campaign is comprised of work by community leaders and organizations. In partnership with Current in Noblesville, students who are part of the NoblesvilleWORKS initiative will have their monthly essays published. April’s “soft skill” is Dependability. 1. Dependability is kind of like trust but a little different. Dependability means you can rely on someone to do something like keep a promise or make something, etc. Because without dependability, you would not be able to be trusted or depended on. Also, no one would like you, because you are not trustworthy and reliable. If someone depended on you to be on time somewhere or feed them food and water or even as little as make a phone call, then you should do it.

2. All family members are supposed to be trustworthy, even friends and many other people. People should be able to depend on someone. Becoming dependable is very easy. First, you have to have someone to depend on and they have to be able to depend on you. So, like a friend or family member would be good. Next, you have to be able to trust yourself, too. Third, you have to be able to learn from a book, friends and teachers or many others to see what it means. Fourth, you have to be able to at least try and practice until you get a whole lot better.

3. Many people in my family are all dependable, but the most dependable person I can think of would be my mom, because I always depend on her to pick me up at the right time, help me with my homework, help me with problems in life and many other situations.

4. It is important to be dependable, because if you are not dependable, then you would not have any friends and no one would trust you. It is important to be dependable because you like friends to play with. Also, being dependable means that you keep your friends instead of driving them away. It is also important because many new people you have not met yet would like to be your friend, but if they don’t think that you are dependable, then they might not want to be your friend. Always be dependable!
