Letter: Referendum pass is imperitive

Editor,

Residents of vibrant cities such as Noblesville, whether or not they have school-age children or grandchildren, believe schools play a vital role in the success of the community. In order to attain this goal, schools must maintain reasonable class sizes, provide quality instruction and offer a comprehensive and challenging educational program. These factors combine to maximize academic achievement.

Families and businesses are attracted to communities with high-achieving schools. Neighborhoods centered around schools provide a rewarding quality of life for everyone and enhance property values. Businesses are drawn to communities where school district leaders are willing to form partnerships with local companies, such as the recently initiated automotive training program with Hare Chevrolet.

On May 4, 2010, Noblesville affirmed its support for quality education by passing its first referendum. Revenue from that referendum has contributed to the upward trend of improved achievement, an increased graduation rate and expanded options for college and career readiness. In order to sustain these significant accomplishments on behalf of the students and community served by Noblesville Schools, it is imperative that the 2016 proposed referendum passes. Please vote YES on May 3 to support your schools and community.
