An online threat described as “violent” has police searching for its source.

Noblesville Schools officials said the threat, posted on the social media site Twitter, pictured, was sent around 10 p.m. last night, March 23 in response to a tweet posted earlier the same day from a Noblesville High School student, who is known, that was described as “ugly” and “racially derogatory” by the district.

This morning, the threatening tweet resulted in the Noblesville Police Dept. detaining two individuals, whose identities have not been confirmed by police or the district. Both individuals were thought to have information related to the threat and were later released.

School remained in session today, and a statement from Noblesville schools read, “We have addressed the racially inappropriate tweet with significant consequences for the student in question. We do not condone that type of behavior and are passionate about creating an environment where all our students feel safe and respected.”

The most recent statement released by Noblesville Schools read:
