Lovebirds looking for a romantic evening of dinner, dancing and helping a worthy cause can find all three and then some at the fifth annual “Paint the Town Red” Valentine’s Day fundraiser for Special Olympics of Hamilton Co.

The dinner for two has doubled in size the past two years. This year’s event is from 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 14 at River Glen Country Club, 12010 Clubhouse Dr.

“It used to be something smaller that was put on by some of our close supporters and some of the athletes’ parents, but then we decided to make it a little bit bigger,” Tiffany Yust, county coordinator for Special Olympics of Hamilton Co., said. “We kind of upped the ante a little bit with the fact that we made it not just a simple dinner, but making it romantic and having the dress be cocktail attire — making it something the ladies drag the guys out to.”

Admission is $90 per couple and includes a dinner of roast beef, chicken cordon bleu, roasted potatoes, vegetables, salad, rolls and appetizers in addition to a dessert bar and a chocolate heart box of candy.

The “Paint the Town Red” theme is taken literally as the River Glen room is decked out in romantic red lighting and linens. Attendees can also make a memory with their sweetheart by getting photo booth pictures taken.

“We made our own photo booth and everything last year, but this year we actually have a photo booth attendant coming in and doing that and we have a DJ performing — things to just kind of up it all a little bit more,” Yust said.

An “I love you” silent auction provides a chance for last-minute Valentine’s Day gifts, too. Items up for auction include a hot air balloon ride, horseback trail ride for two, spa day package, dance lessons and dinner by a private professional chef, among others.
