Letter: Giving back and giving thanks

0

Editor,

This is always an amazing time of year as we reflect on what we are thankful for, and we at Maple Glen Elementary School wanted to give a special thank you to Kroger. In 2015, Kroger redesigned their fundraising program to make it even easier for families and friends of schools and nonprofit organizations to earn funds. All you do is go to www.kroger.com/communityrewards, sign in, select your school or organization of choice, then use your Plus Card when you shop.

At the start of the year, we only had 26 families registered. We now have 196 of our MGES family signed up. Year-to-date, Kroger has donated $6,942.64. We receive a check each quarter. This past quarter, our check totaled $3,223.11. With the funds we have raised from the Kroger Community rewards program, Maple Glen has been able to support our students and staff, by supporting enrichment programs, assist with curriculum needs and teachers and assist with students in need.

When we introduced the program to our parents, we had a lot of questions, but once they realized how simple it was, parents began signing up. We all use our Plus Card when we shop because we like to save money on our groceries and gas. With the Kroger Community Rewards program, it is truly fundraising with no fuss. If you do not have your Plus Card linked to a nonprofit and would like to support Maple Glen Elementary School, or any of our Westfield Schools, please join us in our fundraising cause.

Westfield has an incredible community that continues to give to not only Maple Glen Elementary School but all of our schools. Please know that we are grateful for any and all the help make our schools so strong.
