Traffic to shift on 106th and 116th Streets at U.S. 31 on Nov. 19

INDOT construction contractors plan to shift traffic lanes on 106th and 116th streets at U.S. 31 beginning around 9 a.m. on Nov. 19.  Various lane restrictions should be expected in these areas until about 4 p.m. while lane adjustments are made.

Traffic on 106th Street will be shifted to the north side of the road so crews can construct the south side of the new U.S. 31 roundabout interchange.  Following this shift, all turning movements will remain open.  Traffic on 106th Street will remain one lane in each direction (combined through and left-turn lanes) with right-turn lanes to northbound and southbound US 31.

Traffic on 116th Street will be shifted to the south side of the road under the U.S. 31 bridge. Traffic west of U.S. 31 will also be shifted but will continue to have one right-turn lane to southbound U.S. 31 and one left-turn lane to northbound U.S. 31.

Pending favorable weather conditions, crews currently intend to open the new roundabout at 116th and Pennsylvania streets before Thanksgiving. This opening will be announced in the near future.
