Holiday Adventures—10 a.m.-5 p.m., Nov. 27-29, $12/adult, $9/youth ages 2-12; free for members and youth under age 2. Experience an 1836 winter season with a visit to the homes and businesses in Prairietown. Join in the holiday preparations as you find out which Prairietown residents celebrate Christmas and which ones do not. Lend a helping hand with wintertime chores, explore the science of baking, see historical chocolate processing techniques, and be an actor for the day when you participate in the popular Anything Can Happen Theater. Holiday Adventures is recommended for all ages and is ideal for little ones and family members who prefer to move at their own pace.
Gingerbread Village—10 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday-Sunday, Nov. 27-Jan. 3
$8/adults and youth, ages 2-12. Free for members and youth under age 2. See a variety of gingerbread creations made by both amateurs and professionals. Bring the little ones along and enjoy the smell of gingerbread as you count all the gumdrops, peppermints and colorful candies used to make these icing-covered masterpieces. Expand your gingerbread-making talents by enrolling in Gingerbread Making 101, on November 12. Enter your own gingerbread house for a chance to win great prizes (entry deadline is 5 p.m. Nov. 13).
