Burn off a couple cold ones Nov. 28 in the inaugural pub crawl/charity 5K run. The Pub2Pub 5K is set to aid in raising funds for the Humane Society for Hamilton County.
The event will feature a 5K race path beginning at Brockway Public House on Old Meridian Street in Carmel and ending at Danny Boy Beer Works on Meeting House Road.
The event will see runners making their way toward the center of the city, stopping at the midway point for an additional beer. Once runners make it to Danny Boy Beer Works, live music and more drinks and food will be served.
The partners organizing this event are the Carmel Road Racing Group, which hosts the Carmel Marathon, and the Tuxedo Brothers, the largest event group in the Indy metro area, along with a partnership with Egle Garliauskaite, the assistant general manager of Brockway Pub and Danny Boy Beer Works.
“This is our first event endeavor together as a partnership,” said Todd Oliver, of the Carmel Road Racing Group.
The Pub2Pub 5K begins at 4 p.m. Nov. 28 at Brockway Pub and is open to all ages and abilities. Two beer tickets will be provided for participant over 21 years old.
Oliver noted that this event begins at 4 p.m., much later than most 5 K races, so that “people can have time with their families” before heading out for a fun, physical event.
Oliver said this is open to kids as well.
“We’re starting a new tradition,” Oliver said. “Everyone knows about running events on Thanksgiving Day…but we are giving people a unique opportunity to do something over Thanksgiving weekend, which not even the city of Indianapolis has something like this.”
The pre-registration fee is $35 per participant and $40 on the day of the event. All proceeds will go to benefit the Humane Society for Hamilton County. Learn more and register at pub2pub5k.com. A shuttle bus will be provided to take participants to the pubs as well.
