A teenager is recovering after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bike to Carmel  High School.

The 16-year-old male was traveling east on Main Street and crossing Range Line Road when he was struck by a 2004 Lincoln Navigator driven by Amber Kinney, who was turning north onto Range Line Road shortly before 7:30 a.m. Oct. 20.

Carmel Police Dept. Sgt. Joe Bickel said officers conducted an investigation and determined that Kinney was at fault for failure to yield.

The teen was transported to the hospital complaining of foot pain. His bicycle had proper lights that were in operation at the time of the crash, Bickel said. Police are not releasing his name because he is a juvenile.
