Instacart, a technology-based retail delivery service, has made grocery shopping as easy as updating your Facebook status or checking the weather. This quickly expanding business employs personal shoppers that hand pick and deliver your groceries, all within one hour.
Now, Instacart’s popularity has allowed it to expand in September to customers in the Fishers 46037 zip code. Residents can now order their groceries from four well-known retailers, Whole Foods, Costco (no membership necessary), Marsh Supermarkets and Petco. The increasing senior population, abundance of busy families and the entrepreneurial spirit in Fishers made it the perfect location for Instacart’s expansion.
“We’ve had tremendous feedback from our launch [in Indianapolis]at the end of August, and immediately got requests from residents to bring Instacart to their neighborhood,” said Nilam Ganenthiran, Instacart’s vice president of business development and strategy. “As the first on-demand grocery delivery service to Indianapolis, we have clearly met an unfulfilled need here and look forward to growing our service to bring fresh, affordable and healthy groceries to consumers’ doorsteps.”
Vicki Bohlsen, a working mom, Fishers resident and frequent user of Instacart praises the company; “Instacart not only saves me time by eliminating my weekly grocery trip; it also increases my flexibility. One time my family didn’t have ingredients for a well-rounded meal but thanks to Instacart they appeared at my door within the hour.”
In addition to fast service and convenient service, Instacart offers first time customers discounted prices. Those new to Instacart receive free delivery on their first order of $10 or more. Shoppers can choose between one-hour delivery or two-hour delivery for additional fees without a membership. However, an annual subscription offers delivery free of charge.
