On Aug. 27, Eddy’s Neighborhood Bar and Grill will host the 2nd Annual Eddy’s Golf Classic at Ironwood Golf Course. The proceeds go to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Former owner of Eddy’s, Heather Foster, organizes the event.
“I’m very active with Team in Training and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society,” Foster said. “They go hand-in-hand. Team in Training is a group of participants who do endurance events like marathons, bike rides and triathlons. They work to raise money for patients who have either won the battle or lost the battle with blood cancer. My mom has Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, and I’m very happy to say she’s in remission. She is my motivation behind everything I do to raise money for L&LS.”
A grilled lunch will be served that starts at 11 a.m. Tee time is 12:30 p.m. Participants will get a golf shirt and hat, lunch and cocktails out on the golf course. Teams consist of four players and is $600 per team.
The main sponsor of the event is TA Smith Distributing and Bud Light. Individuals can still donate without participating in the golf classic.
“Family Leisure donated a $2,500 grill. It’s sitting on the patio at Eddy’s. You can buy a raffle ticket for $5 or three for $25. All that money goes directly to the L&LS,” Foster said.
The goal is to raise $10,000. Foster wants to thank Dave Stringer, current owner of Eddy’s, for keeping this tradition going.
“Now that Dave Stringer is the owner of Eddy’s, he’s been very gracious in helping to keep this going. I have to give credit to Dave and to Eddy’s for being so supportive,” Foster said.
