Boone County Solid Waste Management District is sponsoring a free household hazardous waste collection and electronics recycling event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 22 at Zionsville Town Hall, 1100 W. Oak St.
The event is open for Boone County residents. Business or industrial waste will not be accepted.
Acceptable items include:
- Antifreeze
- Brake fluid
- Motor oil
- Small propane tanks
- Glues and adhesives
- Fire extinguishers
- Fluorescent tube lights/CFL bulbs
- Oil-based paint/thinner/stain
- Pesticides/herbicides/insecticides
- Sharps
- Gasoline
- Household cleaners
- Aerosols
- Pool chemicals
- Thermometers and thermostats
- Batteries (automobile and rechargeable)
- Electronics (a $10 fee for tube-based TVs)
The following items will not be accepted:
- Radioactive waste
- Explosives
- Alkaline batteries
- Latex paint
- Tires
