A splash of added diversity will once again be part of the Carmel Farmers Market on Saturday, July 25, as visitors are encouraged to visit a special booth at the market – hosted by the India Association of Indianapolis. The booth is part of the Celebration of Diversity at the Carmel Farmers Market and will be located on the western edge of the Center Green.

In the spirit of education and community building, the India Association will be displaying their culture’s costumes, education, music and sports while at the Market. The effort was initiated by the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Human Relations.

This is the inaugural year for showcasing the many diverse cultural and ethnic groups that reside in our community.  In June, groups from Pakistan American Friendship Association and the Russian School of Indiana were featured. The Celebration of Diversity is a great way to appreciate the contributions of our citizens of all races, cultures and ancestries.

The Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Human Relations was established in November 2009 to advise the Mayor and recommend ways to better recognize the contributions of all Carmel residents to our great quality of life and identify any obstacles that may prevent full citizen participation in all of our city’s civic and other activities.
