During the next three weeks, 10 Carmel kids will participate in the Children’s International Performing Arts festival in Russia.
These 10 Carmel students, between the ages of 10 and 13, were selected to represent the International Talent Academy as the first and only USA team at the festival.
In 2013, ITA was invited to partner with “Orlyonok” or Young Eagle, the world’s largest educational, recreational and health camp center for gifted and talented youth, near Sochi, Russia.
After much planning and hard work, ITA was awarded a grant for 10 children to participate in a three-week camp at the Children’s International Performing Arts festival in 2015. Only 400 students from around the world are invited to this unique cultural event.
Tatyana Komarova, ITA executive director, said she is excited for the kids to have this unique experience.
“This is amazing and a one of a kind opportunity for the Carmel kids,” she said. “It will open their horizons and give them many opportunities to see the world from a perspective of the kids from different countries as well as participate in unique activities in performing arts, sports, leadership and much more.”
The ITA works to provide support for young artists and give them the opportunity to develop their talents. Attending the Performing Arts Festival certainly lives up to the ITA’s aspirations by allowing students to attend a variety of performing arts workshops, consult with some of the world’s best professionals, gain cultural experience and much more.
Komarova said the participants and the community will forever value this once in a lifetime opportunity. They return Aug. 8.
“I hope kids come back changed, inspired and with lots of positive energy and unique experiences to share with Carmel,” she said.
