Column: Take a few hours to volunteer this summer

We are officially in the thick of summer, which means schedules are (hopefully!) lighter, the weather is warmer and the urge to be outside is stronger. This is the perfect combination for you to consider signing up for one or more of the many volunteer opportunities we have in Noblesville. All of them get you outside to help our community and have some fun in the process!

The Hamilton County 4-H Fair is coming and they need help keeping an eye on exhibits and answer visitor questions – you will be trained. Contact Becca Roper at 776-0854 [email protected]. The fair runs July 16-20.

Do you like the arts? Nickel Plate Arts needs volunteers for its Art Fair on the Square on Aug. 1 and for its unique First Friday activities on Aug. 7. No experience in the arts is necessary, just bring your friendly face and a willingness to meet new people and help them enjoy all that Nickel Plate will have to offer.

Summer may wind down in September, but the outdoor activities don’t. Join us for the fun at the second White River Celebration on Sept. 12. This is a great event hosted by all three of the organizations I mentioned earlier – the City of Noblesville, Noblesville Main Street and Nickel Plate Arts. Help educate the public in the morning about the White River, one of our greatest natural resources, or work the bridge fair that afternoon. The event ends with the annual rubber duck race, which is always a treat to watch.
