The City of Carmel and the Carmel Arts & Design District are once again rolling out the big screen jumbotron for a special outdoor viewing party for World Cup Soccer. This time it’s for the Women’s World Cup Final – USA vs. Japan – Sunday evening, July 5, at Main Street and the Monon Trail, live on Fox TV (WXIN-59).
Join us as we gather in the green space on the southwest corner of the intersection with the giant screen live coverage of the World Cup Final. The match begins at 7 p.m., but fans are invited to come as early as 5 p.m. for the pre-game show and to grab a bite to eat or some refreshments at one of the many dining choices in the Arts & Design District.
“Last year we had hundreds of fans join us in The District to cheer on the Men’s team and it was great to see the spirit of the fans as we all came together as a community,” said Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard. “We are thrilled that our USA Women’s team has advanced to the final match and we can’t wait to show our spirit once again.”
This event is free and open to the public. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the match. Special thanks to Bright House Cable and Fox for partnering with us to make this event possible.
“Bright House Networks is once again thrilled to help bring the Carmel community together so we can all cheer on USA team in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Finals,” said Don Williams, VP/GM of Bright House Networks. “We are proud to be partners with the City and welcome all fans in what is sure to be a remarkable game.”
Public parking is available at the Sophia Square parking garage (entrance off of 1st Ave NW), Indiana Design Center parking garage (200 S. Range Line Rd.) or available on-street public parking.
