Noblesville Parks department announces Great American Backyard Campout

Join the Noblesville Parks Department and families all across the nation for the National Wildlife Federation’s Great American Backyard Campout on June 27.

Families are invited to camp overnight in Forest Park beginning at 4 p.m. and will need to bring a tent, sleeping bags, camping gear and food while the parks department will provide the activities. Tents need to be torn down by 11 a.m. June 28.

Parks Department staff will be onsite the entire time and will be available to advise on tent set up and other camping issues as well as to help lead outdoor experiences for children and families such as hayrides and a campfire. Naturalist Karen LaMere will lead the nature hikes throughout the park.

“It’s a lot of fun – hearing the night time sounds and hanging out with the family,” said Cindy Knapp, Noblesville Parks’ assistant recreation director. “It is the only time camping is allowed at Forest Park and is a unique event.”

Help provide your children with fun summer memories of playing outside after dark and gazing at the stars. The Great American Backyard Campout is perfect way for kids to experience outdoor time.

Pre-registration is required for this event and the cost is $15 per family for Noblesville residents and $20 for non-residents. For more information or to register, contact the Parks Department’s Recreation office at 317-770-5750.
